Anthony Rae Woodard "Tony" unexpectedly passed away in his home on June 29, 2025.
Visitation will be at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, IL, Sunday, July 6th from noon to 3:00 pm with Funeral Services starting at 3:00 pm
Tony was born on Feb. 15th, 1971, in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Larry and Kay (Totten)Woodard.
Tony leaves behind his two incredible sons, the lights of his life, Myles Woodard (Emily Tingley) of Marshall, IL, and Chase Woodard of Mattoon, and their Mother Wendy Gates Woodard. He is also survived by his loving Father, Larry Woodard (Judi Eitel) of Marshall, Il, his sister Amy Frazer (Frank) of San Diego, CA, nephews T.J Bunnell (Shannon) of San Diego, CA, Nicholas Bunnell of Queen Creek, AZ, and Logan Frazer of San Diego, CA, and his beloved pup Franklin. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Tony was preceded in death by his Mother Angela Kay Totten Woodard, his Paternal Grandparents Rae and Bette Woodard, Maternal Grandparents Ernest and Jane Totten.
Tony was a 1989 graduate of Marshall High School where he was an excellent student and excelled at both golf and track. His love of golf led him to work summers at the Marshall Golf Course and after graduation Tony was accepted into the prestigious Turf Grass Management intensive program at Penn State, earning his degree in Turf Grass Management. Tony spent seventeen years working at the Mattoon Country Club, with sixteen and a half as the Superintendent. Most recently, he was employed at B & T Drainage Inc., where he worked for the last 11.5 years. He was respected by his coworkers and enjoyed working alongside them.
Tony was an avid mushroom hunter, loved fishing, and watching his Cubs, Bears, and Illini play ball. You could always find him working on a project alongside Myles and Chase and teaching them everything he knew. He had a penchant for cooking, grilling, smoking and BBQing which he did often, a love he shared with his father, Larry. Tony had a mechanical mind and could fix or do almost anything. He enjoyed working with his hands and was incredible at landscaping. He was a friendly smile, a shoulder when needed, and the first to offer a hand to someone in need. If you knew Tony, you loved Tony. He will be unimaginably missed by all who knew and loved him.
