April Lynn Shotts, 44, of Marshall, IL passed away Sunday morning, January 12, 2013 at the home of her parents in Marshall. She had formerly been the owner and operator of both Tom's Caf̩ and Lincoln Trail Restaurant of Marshall. She was born January 16, 1969 at Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of John and Gloria Murphy Robinson. Surviving are a son, Aaron Shotts of Vincennes, IN; her parents of Marshall; a grandson Drake; a sister, Buffy (Jeff) Wernz of Marshall, IL; two nieces, Megan Wernz, Ashley Wernz; a nephew, Jacob Wernz; a step daughter, Cindy McGee; two step grandchildren, Jordan and Chelsea and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather and her husband, Rick. She was currently serving as President of the Clark County Optimist Club, member of Marshall Lions Club, member of the Marshall Library Board and had served as chairperson of the Marshall Autumn Fest for many years. Until her fatal illness she had been a member of the Marshall Women's Civic Club, Marshall Rotary Club, Marshall Main St. and had been a mentor for M.A.Y.N.E. April was a person who thoroughly enjoyed participating in community events and be being involved in the implementation of community activities. She cherished the opportunity to serve others, not expecting anything in return. She will be truly missed by the Marshall community. Services in honor of her life will be 7:00 PM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Visitation will be after 3:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the South Vigo "Black" Cemetery at a later date. It is requested by her family, that those desiring, memorial contributions be made to the Marshall Optimist Club.
