Armon Vance Snedeker, 78, of Marshall, IL passed away 7:00 AM Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. Vance was born February 28, 1946, the son of Johnie G. and March Chapman Snedeker. He married Shannon Spittler on August 18, 1993. Vance is survived by his wife, Shannon; his children, Christi (Jerry) Daniken of Carmel, IN and John J. Snedeker of Bloomington, IN; a grandson, Lucas Daniken of Carmel, IN; two brothers Ted (Kay) Snedeker, Eric (Cindy) Snedeker both of Marshall, IL; and two sisters, Winnie (Gary) Chapel of Maryville, IL and Loretta (Dan) Thompson of Plainfield, IN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Vance was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenny Snedeker and Tim Snedeker. A graduate of Marshall High School Vance served in the U.S. Navy from September 1964 to October 1969, completing two tours in Vietnam. He was a lifelong member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 841 and VFW Post 5975. A longtime motorcycle enthusiast, Vance enjoyed long bike rides, building motorcycles, and attending flat track races. He also loved fishing, excavating projects, and spending time with friends, family, and pets. A public graveside service will be held 4:00 PM Friday, Sept. 13, at Livingston Cemetery, rural Marshall, IL with Pastor Tim Duke officiating.
