Barbara Jean Martin, 71, of Dennison, IL passed away 7:42 AM Monday, October 12, 2015 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall.
She was born Dec. 12, 1943 at Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Lewis Dean and Ida Mae Brown Holmes. Barb loved to bowl and went to several states for tournaments. She enjoyed taking road trips and following the back roads where the end was never known. She also loved taking all of her grandkids on a trip of their choice to a historical site in the U.S.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; a brother, Lawrence Dean Holmes; many aunts and uncles and a very special friend and fellow road traveler, Carol June Bosstick. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Darrel R. Martin; her three children and daughter-in-law, Larry and Nan Martin, Lori Martin and Jami Martin; five grandchildren, Ali (Travis) Conine, Cody Martin, Tyler Martin, Zach Martin and Brody Martin-Stepp; one great grandchild, Leston Dean Conine; a brother, Jerry (Beck) Holmes; two sisters, Evelyn (Harold) Morecraft and Deanie (Bill) Hanna; aunt and uncle, Dave and Tootie Switzer; a very close friend and bowling companion, Nancy Wilson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Services in honor of her life will be 2:00 PM Friday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in the Dunlap Cemetery, rural Dennison. Visitation will be 12 noon until service time on Friday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Back Pack program.
