Bernice Grotenhuis, 91, of Marshall, IL peacefully passed away into eternity, Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was born on May 10, 1921 in Oakland, CA, the daughter of Christian and Louise Pegot Lausten. Survivors include daughters, Audrey (David) Savage of Monticello, IA, Nancy (Glenn) Freerick of Cape Coral, FL, Beverly (David) Liebenow of Kimberling City, MO and Shad Te Grotenhuis of Marshall, IL; father of her daughters, Stanton Groeenhuis of Green City, MO; grandchildren, Daniel (Danielle) Kumley, Matthew Kumley, Sarah (Bill) Jones, J.R. Frederick, Eric (Annessa Hornbuckle) Frederick, Adam Frederick, Jay (Virginia) Liebenow, Jennifer (Luke) vethe, Megan (Rayne) Peavler, Kelsey Gard, and Bill Gard; great grandsons, Mason Kumley and Raylan Peavler and step great grandson, Evan Hornbuckle. She was preceded in death by brother, Raymond Lausten and Donald Lausten and a granddaughter, Rebecca Kumley. She was a stay-at-home mom who in her later years worked at Casey State Bank in Casey, IL. She really enjoyed completing word search puzzles, play board and card games. She was also an avid viewer of The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She was a dedicated member of the Marshall Woman's Club. Bernice regularly attended worship services at Emmanuel United Methodist church of Marshall. She loved spending time with her family. She was a great cook and could and did mend everything. She will be sadly missed by many.
