Bette J. Woodard, 98, of Marshall, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020 in Union Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. Bettie was born August 4, 1922 at Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Lawrence and Audrey Ratliff Lindholm. On December 13th, 1941, she married Rae G. Woodard in Springfield, IL. After 67 fulfilling years of marriage, Rae preceded her in death on April 30th, 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter-in-law, Kay Woodard. Surviving are a daughter, Carol (Daniel) Warfield of Effingham, IL; a son, Larry Woodard and his special friend, Judi Eitel of Marshall; grandchildren, Amy (Franklin) Frazer of Arizona, Scott (Erica) Warfield of Wheaton, Anthony Woodard of Marshall, and Jennifer (William) Apke of Colorado as well as great grandchildren, T.J. Bunnell, Nicholas Bunnell, Logan Frazer, Anna Warfield, Lauren Warfield, Myles Woodard, Chase Woodard, Carson Apke, and Truman Apke. Bette graduated from Kewanee High School and then from Springfield Business School where she met Rae. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall. For many years she was an avid golfer with the Marshall Women’s Golf League. She was a true and loyal fan of both the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Illini. Her backyard is a testament to her great love of caring for her flowers, vegetable garden, a variety of birds, and hungry squirrels. Services in honor of her remarkable life will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Sabo officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. STATE OF ILLINOIS COVID 19 MANDATES WILL BE OBSERVED. FACE COVERINGS OF ALL IN ATTENDANCE WILL BE REQUIRED.
