Betty Joan Buckner, 79, of Marshall, IL passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall.
Betty was born October 19, 1935 at Darwin, IL, the daughter of Riley Baker and Cletus Waller Baker. She married Leland Buckner on April 6, 1957 in the parsonage of the Clarksville Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Leland; a son, John L. (Shirley) Buckner of Paris, IL; a grandson, Randy (Amanda) Buckner of Beaumont, TX; two great grandchildren, Evelyn Buckner and Jonathan Buckner; three brothers, Bill Baker of Marshall, IL, Charles (Pat) Baker of Nekoosa, WS and Darrell (Marti) Baker of Marshall, IL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Landis.
She was a member of the Clarksville Baptist Church; a former 4-H Leader and a member of Clark County Home Extension. She and her husband were some of the founders of the Half Fast Square Dance Club and she was a 1954 graduate of Marshall High School.
Services in honor of her life will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Ronnie Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Green Moss Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-6 PM Friday and after 7:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
