Betty Marie Lewis Remlinger Smith, 84, of Marshall, IL passed to her heavenly father Tuesday afternoon at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born July 4, 1933 in rural Clark Co., IL, the daughter of Frederick W. and Mabel Liggett Lewis Sr. She was a member of the Blue Grass Church of God, the Pythian Sisters and had been a Girl Scouts co-leader. She was retired from TRW and had worked in the Log Cabin Welcome Center in Marshall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children, Clifford Remlinger; her second husband Donnie Smith; three brothers, Frederick Lewis, Jr., Richard Lewis and Robert Lewis and a sister, Lucy Ayers. Surviving are her children, Becky (Fred) Barth of Terre Haute, IN, Judy (Tom) Turner of Streamwood, IL, Donald (Tammy) Remlinger of Marshall, Lori Mullen of Marshall and Molly (Paul) Mullen of Marshall; grandchildren, Johnathon Tharp, Jason Tharp, Charlene Mullen, Sam Mullen, George Lee Turner, Elizabeth Turner, Emily Mullen-Lindley, Elias Mullen, Zack Remlinger and Rachael Remlinger; 7 great grandchildren; her siblings, Sandra Bass of Lynden, Washington, Jack (Betty) Lewis of Seelyville, IN; Carolyn (Don) Cork of Goleta, CA and Edwin (Patty) Lewis of Marshall; two sisters-in-law, Norma Lewis and Peggy Lewis both of Marshall and several nieces and nephews. Services in honor of her life will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastors Larry Hollensbee and Tim Duke officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery.
