Clarann Powless was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on October 11, 1951 and entered Heaven at 6:00 AM April 23, 2024 after a brief illness at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital. Clarann was a kind and caring soul to anyone that met her, with a witty sense of humor and a contagious laugh; 90% heart and 10% ornery. She loved her childhood shenanigans in Dennison, Westerns on TV, and her cats and grand-pets. Her love of Christmas resulted in a Santa Claus collection that would rival the North Pole, and her very favorite thing to do was spend time with her two daughters and three granddaughters (the Fab 5). She would beam when talking about their times of laughter while telling stories, drinking coffee, and sitting on the porch. Anyone who came to visit, she always made sure to turn the porch light on, and always wanted to know when you made it home. Clarann wore many work hats including childcare, a house cleaning business, waitressing at the local Tom’s Diner, and then retiring from Burnside’s Nursing Home in 2013. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Kirby Thompson and lovingly raised by William (Bappy) Thompson, her father Diner Kirby, and sister, Nancy Taylor. She is survived by her daughters Amber (Bill) Day and Shannon (Fatty) Trudeau, granddaughters Victoria (Trey) Day, Elaina Day and Alexandria Day, and many cousins and friends. Visitation will be 12 Noon until 2:00 PM Saturday with a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Pearce Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help toward funeral expenses. Online condolences are being accepted at pearcefuneralservices.com.
