Clay Harlan Sheffer, 37, of West Union, IL, formerly of Vincennes, IN passed away peacefully with family by his side after his 13-year fight of illness at University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN on Oct. 27, 2022. Clay was born Dec. 1985 to Bill and Karol (Calman) Sheffer of Morganfield, KY. On July 14, 2018, he married Bethany K. Hain in Marshall, IL. Clay graduated in 2004 from Vincennes Lincoln High School where he was on the wrestling and football teams. He went on to Vincennes University and graduated with a degree in Diesel Mechanics & Heavy Equipment. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including hunting, fishing, welding and demolition derbies. Most of all Clay loved to spend time with his family and friends laughing the night away. He had a huge heart, a witty and contagious personality and willingness to help others and that is what made him the man he was to all. He was an amazing son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife, Bethany (Hain) Sheffer of West Union, IL; his son, Toby of Land O’Lakes, FL; his 3 bonus children, Shelby, Bracksten and April of West Union, IL; his parents, Bill and Karol Sheffer of Vincennes; his sister, Jill (Bart) Kiefer of Vincennes; his nieces, Kinsley, Briley and Kailey and several other relatives and friends. A time of remembrance was held Sunday, Oct. 30th from 12:00 to 3:00 PM CST with a prayer and story time at 3:00 PM at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall.
