Dale Walters, 87, of Marshall, IL passed away 8:45 PM Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was a retired Clark County, IL livestock and grain farmer. Dale was born Sept. 24, 1927 in Dolson Twp., Clark Co., IL, the son of William Walters and Lillie Miner Walters.
He married Eleanor Glover on Sept. 24, 1948 in the First Christian Church at Paris, IL. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; a sister, Martha Mathews of Terre Haute, IN and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Walters and three sisters, Leah Mae Hill, Reba Jane See and Irma Propst.
He served this nation during WW II in the US Army in the Occupation Zone being stationed in Italy. He was a member of VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. For many years he served as a trustee of the Green Moss Church and Cemetery. He also served as the sexton of the Green Moss Cemetery for many years. He was a member of the Clark County Farm Bureau.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Green Moss Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Loper officiating and military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #5975 and Clark County Post #90 of the American Legion. Family and friends and invited to meet at Pearce Funeral Home after 9:00 AM Saturday for procession to the cemetery at 9:30 AM. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
