Dale L. Roberts, 77, of Marshall, IL passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at his home. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2007. Dale retired from Hercules in Terre Haute in 1998 and had been previously been employed by Velsicol. He was born March 22, 1942 at Gary, IN, the son of Forrest and Dorthfreda Connelly Roberts. He married Sandra Shotts on Dec. 26, 1964. Surviving are his wife, Sandra; children, Kim (Dwane) Shumaker, Julie (Mark) Snyder and Dustin (Kammy Harmon) Roberts all of Marshall; grandchildren, Amanda Higgins of Robinson, IL, Holden Lindsay, Abigail Snyder of High Point, NC, Madison Roberts, Cole Meyer, Hannah Roberts, Tristan Profitt and Evynn Bleekman all of Marshall and his sisters, Vivian Johnson of Charleston, IL, Ann (Harry) Payne, Linda Roberts, Judy Jones, Peggy Trover, Cheryl Roberts, Carolyn Roberts and Barbara Roberts all of Paris, IL, ; his brothers, Richard (Linda) Roberts of Morris, IL, Joe (Andrea) Roberts of Marshall and Donald (Brenda) Roberts of Sherman, TX and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Warren Lee Roberts, Jerry Roberts, Johnnie Roberts, Marilyn Roberts and Jack Connelly. Dale served this nation in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1965 and was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. He was a member of the Marshall Baptist Church, served as the Marshall Youth Football Commissioner from 1987 to 1992. He was always sure to attend all ballgames and events that his grandkids was involved in. Woodworking and being outside on the farm was a true joy for him in his life. He also loved meeting friends for coffee every morning. Visitation will be 12 Noon Saturday, Nov. 16th at Pearce Funeral Home with a memorial at 2:00 PM with Pastor Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Following the memorial services, military services will be provided by Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and VFW Post #5975. In lieu of flowers, it is requested by his family contributions may be made to Mrs. Rickman’s Closet which provides services to needy children of this area.
