Darrell Eugene Richey, 81, of Marshall, IL passed away 8:30 AM Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis, IN. Darrell was born June 26, 1942 in Grandview Twp., Edgar Co., IL, the son of Clarence and Pearl Reedy Richey. On Dec. 19, 1964, he married Sandra A. Currence and she preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 2015. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Richey. Surviving are four sons and their spouses, Clarence (Kathy) Richey of Columbia, IL, Bill (Elizabeth) Richey, Daniel (Miki) Richey and Jeff (Jaime) Richey all of Marshall, IL; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Following graduation from Marshall High School in 1960 he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and following his discharge he served in Civil Service at Travis Air Force Base. During the Viet Nam War he had been an aircraft prop repairman and airplane mechanic at Azore Islands. Darrell had also been a salesman of mobile homes in Everett, WA. While working at Velsicol he also farmed in Clark Co., IL and he hadretired from Bemis in Terre Haute, IN. Darrell’s community service included serving on the Marshall School Board during the 1980’s and he assisted with formation of the D.A.R.E. program which formed with the Drug Task Force. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past president of the Central Archelogy Chapter. He enjoyed participating in archeological digs throughout the country and Indian artifacts Darrell enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, photography and archeology, but his main interest was his four sons. Services in honor of his life will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Burial will be in the Livingston Cemetery with military graveside rites.
