Darrell Lee Propst, 84, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away at 8:46 am, Monday, November 2, 2026, at his home. He was born August 15, 1942, in Paris, IL, the son of Foster M. and Irma V. (Walters) Propst, who preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Karen; three sons, Timothy (Rebecca) Propst of Stillwater, OK, Neil (Jill) Propst of Brownsburg, IN, and Nathan (Deanna) Propst of Center Point, IN; grandchildren, Kaylee (Justin) Garnett, Dillon (Jozie) Propst, Samuel (Corinthian) Propst, Caleb (Macina) Propst, Colby Propst, Elise (Eli) Beheler, Logan Propst, Connor Propst, Landon Propst, and Karli Propst; great-grandchildren, Ansleigh Propst, Aspen Propst, and Leona Propst; siblings, Toni (Bill) Payne of Terre Haute, IN, and Foster (Angie) Propst and their daughters, Sarah and Leslie, of Marshall, IL; aunt, Eleanor Walters, of Marshall, IL; and numerous dearly loved nieces and nephews, great and great-greats, and cousins of his extended family. Darrell grew up working on his uncle’s farms and at Blankenship’s Drug Store in Marshall, IL, graduating from Marshall High School in 1960. On April 11, 1965, he married Karen Ewbank, of Martinsville, IL, at Clarksville Baptist Church. They moved to Indianapolis, IN, where he graduated from Butler University with his Pharmacy degree in 1967. He also achieved his MBA from Indiana University in 1989. Darrell served as the Director of Pharmacy for Union Hospital, in Terre Haute, IN, from 1969 to 1998. His vision for improved patient care guided multiple expansions and modernizations. Later, he managed home infusion therapy and provided interim guidance for various Indiana hospital pharmacies. Despite these achievements, Darrell often said his greatest accomplishment was his family; life revolved around “the boys” and whatever activity in which they, or the grandkids, were participating. Family vacations supplied priceless memories for Darrell, especially the Rocky Mountains, where his heart found a home that he loved to share with them. In 2017, he and Karen achieved a lifetime goal when they visited their 50th state, exactly 50 years after their first trip together. Darrell’s love for his family was second only to his devotion to his Lord Jesus Christ, whom he served faithfully. He and Karen became members of World Gospel Church in 1984, where he taught Sunday School and was an interim Elder. He also participated in Bible Study Fellowship International for many years. Services in honor of Darrell’s life will be held at 2:00 pm (Eastern) on Saturday, November 14th, at World Gospel Church, 900 Gardendale Road, Terre Haute, IN, with Pastor Ben Burdick officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 12 noon-2 pm. Burial will be in the Clarksville Cemetery in rural Marshall, IL. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Lloyd and Lela Ewbank Memorial Scholarship Fund through Wabash Valley Community Foundation or to Crossroads Care Clinic, 530 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, IN, 47807. Envelopes will be provided at the church. Online condolences are being accepted at pearcefuneralservices.com.
