David A. Claypool, 80, of Martinsville, IL passed away 5:57 AM Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute, IN. He was born Dec. 5, 1944 at Charleston, IL, the son of Lester and Betty J. Stewart Claypool. On Nov. 8, 1964 he married Linda Parsons and she preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2004. Surviving are two children, Chad (Chasity) Claypool and Angel Knauer both of Martinsville, IL; three grandchildren, Caitlyn Claypool, Chelsie Claypool and Kendra Knauer and a brother, Terry (Linda) Claypool of Mattoon, IL. David was a retired farmer and electrician. He served this nation in the United State Army during the Viet Nam War and had been a member of the Martinsville American Legion. Prior to being drafted in the Army he attended Martinsville High School. One of his favorite hobbies was messing around with cars Visitation will be 12 Noon until 2:00 PM Thursday, Feb. 27th at Pearce Funeral Home with a service in honor of his life at 2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Dunlap Cemetery, rural Dennison, IL with military graveside rites. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be given to the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.
