David “Maynard” Elliott passed away at his home in Marshall on Feb. 1, 2020. David was born Feb. 22, 1947 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of Emory and Esther Rollings Elliott. He married Duane “Duchess” Leitch on April 3, 1966 and she preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert “Little Maynard” Elliott and a great granddaughter, Areona Sanders. He was a member of Operators Local #841 for 52 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #90 and VFW Post #5975. He was also a member of Marshall Lodge #133 AF & AM. David served this nation in the US Navy and served 2 terms in Viet Nam from 1964 to 1968. Surviving are his daughters, Yvonne (Rick) Farris of Marshall and Katie Elliott of Effingham, IL; his companion of 18 years, Nancy Robert and her daughter, Dawn Roberts, whom he referred to himself as her Dad Number Two . Also surviving are a brother, Emory “E.J.” Elliott; five sisters, Ella (Lynn) Woolever, Annie (Jeff) Reeves, Ruth (Steve) Hallam, Sue (Jerry) Sanders and Grace Hain; three grandchildren, Aubrey Elliott, Michael Dungan and Rheanna (Kevin) Satterfield; five great grandchildren, Anthony, Cole, Emma, Jolene and Valerie and several nieces and nephews. Clark Co. Post #90 and VFW Post #5975 will conduct military graveside rites at 12 Noon, Saturday, Feb. 8th at Darwin Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted immediately following.
