Dennis E. Pine, 71, of rural Martinsville, IL passed into eternal glory at 1:28 am Tuesday, August 10, 2021, surrounded by the people he loved on the farm that he treasured. He had fought bravely the last few years with a rare form of interstitial lung disease. Denny was born December 20, 1949 to Bob and Betty (Edwardson) Pine. He married Mary Lou (Rincker) Pine on October 1, 1975 and she survivies. He was the hero of his children, Dr. Denise Pine Mattas (Jeff) of Marshall, IL, Danette Pine Young (Matt) of Paris, IL and Derek (Katy) Pine who live on the same farm. He cherished his six grandchildren – Mallory Pine, Kendra Young, Logan Pine, R.J. Mattas, Ella Mattas and Kailey Young. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard (Karen) Pine and Bill (Cathy) Pine of rural Martinsville, IL Denny was a lifelong farmer who loved every aspect of life. His calloused hands taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work and an honest living, a testament to an incredible work ethic. Denny had a deep love and service to his family. He loved working the land, loved this country and loved his Lord. He will be dearly missed by all who admired him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson R. Todd Shafer. Denny was a member of the Bell Ridge Christian Church and the Illinois Farm Bureau. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and his grandchildren’s biggest supporter. A drive through visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at Pearce Funeral Home. (When approaching the funeral home for visitation, please turn south on 5th St. at Archer Ave. and continue south for three blocks and turn east onto Maple St. Please turn into the south entrance of the parking lot to receive directions on signing the register book and greeting the family. A private funeral service will be held on Saturday with burial following at the Shiloh Cemetery next to the family farm. For those desiring, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to St. Jude Hospital or Shriner’s Children Hospital as Denny was a long time, faithful supporter of both charities.
