Donald A. Gallington, 91, of Marshall, IL passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Regional Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. He was a retired farmer. He was born January 20, 1921 in Vigo Co., IN, the son of Albert Gallington and Grace Hewitt Gallington. He married Violet Reynolds in 1940 in Vigo Co., IN. Surviving are his wife, Violet; two daughters, Beverly (Clarence)Douglas of Marshall, IL and Patricia (Jim) Pierce of Danville, IL; a daughter-in-law, Ruthie Gallington of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Loren Douglas, Cindee Washburn, Pamela Poorman, James Dean Pierce, Laura Tomszewksi, Joseph Pierce and Denise Williams; 13 grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Gallington and a sister, Helen Smith. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Marshall and was a member of the Clark Co. Farm Bureau. He served his country during WW II in the Infantry of the US Army. He loved water skiing and camping and had taught many others how to water ski during his lifetime. Services in honor of his life will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June 10th, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 503 S. Michigan Ave, Marshall, IL with Rev. Judy Williams officiating. Burial will be in the South Vigo "Black" Cemetery, rural Marshall with military graveside rites in honor of his service to this nation by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. Visitation will be 5-7 Pm Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., Marshall, IL and also one-hour prior services at the church on Sunday.
