Douglas M. Gunther, 79, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 in The Gibson Family Center For Hospice. He was retired from Clay County Nursing Home and had previously been employed CF Industries for 24 years. Doug was born May 7, 1939 at Ashville, NC, the son of Wayne and Leah Eller Gunther. He married Shirley Kibler on March 30, 1962 at the Clarksville Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife; a son, Kirk (Donna) Gunther of Muncie, IN; a daughter, Karla (David) Snowden of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren, Christopher, Zach, Ryan, Adam, Austin and Abigail; step grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy; one who he loved as a granddaughter, Melissa Macke; several great grandchildren; two brothers, David (Verna) Gunther and Dan (Gwyn) Gunther; a sister-in-law, Patsy (Ivan) VanTassel; a brother-in-law, John (Bunny) Kibler and his two dogs, Misty and Ginger. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister and his father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Florence Kibler. He served this nation in the US Navy and loved the out-of-doors. Services in honor of his life will be 10:00 AM CST Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside rites.
