Douglas N. Garner, 72, of West Terre Haute, IN, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away 6:07 AM Monday, Dec. 5, 2022 at his home. He was formerly employed by the Marshall School System as a custodian and bus driver. He had also worked as a clerk at Thornton’s in Terre Haute. He was born April 3, 1950 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of George E. and Emma Faye Strader Garner. He married Debra Riley on June 27, 1997 at Marshall, IL and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Amanda Powers of West Terre Haute, Vanessa (Donnie) Barlow of Terre Haute, Melissa Tingley of Terre Haute and Graham James of West Terre Haute; grandchildren, Sarah Garner, Allen Smith, Kimberly Barlow and William Tingley; siblings, Dan Garner, Joe Garner, Julie Shaffner, Martha Kelly and Bob Garner and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter; a niece, Holly Garner and a nephew, Jimmy Garner. Doug was a 1968 graduate of Marshall High School and enjoyed playing cards, buying lottery tickets and riding Four Wheelers. Services in honor of his life will be 1:00 PM Friday (Central) at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Duke officiating. Burial will be in the South Vigo “Black” Cemetery.
