Dr. William A. Kuhn, 71, of Marshall, Illinois, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his loving family at 10am EST on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Union Health, Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on April 25, 1954 to Frederick Leo Kuhn and Charline (Miller) Kuhn. He married Renè Higginbotham on June 10, 1989 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters: Dr. Gabrielle Kuhn of Madison, WI, Erika Kuhn of St. Louis, MO and Ariana Kuhn of Lafayette, IN; two sisters Janet A. (Carol Boyd) Kuhn of Indianapolis, IN and Karmen R. Kuhn of Marshall, IL; in-laws, Charles and Phyllis A. Higginbotham of Martinsville, IL; two brothers-in-law Greg (Carla) Higginbotham of Martinsville, IL and Paul (Delena) Higginbotham of Lawrenceville, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his two best furry companions, Nadia and Kat. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred L. Kuhn III, and sister-in-law Janet E. Kuhn. Growing up, he worked alongside his family on their dairy farm, reading comic books and listening to music on the record player. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1972 and, driven by a desire to help others, set his sights on a career in medicine. He earned a B.S. from Indiana State University in 1976, then completed a year of graduate studies at the University of Illinois. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford in 1981. After graduation, he completed an internship at Carmel Health System, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine–Ball Memorial from 1982 to 1984. He then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Wright State University from 1984 to 1986 before returning back to the area. He joined the Paris Clinic in Paris, IL before opening a private practice in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology there. He also cared for patients at Union Hospital and Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, and grew to know and admire several colleagues as they cared for patients together. He also provided medicalcare to patients at the Continental Rehab Hospital in Terre Haute. He loved caring for his patients, performing endoscopies, and found great joy in teaching nursing students during their clinical rotations. In 2018, he made the difficult decision to close his private practice due to health issues.In his free time, he was an avid reader, but also enjoyed relaxing by farming, listening to music, watching movies and cooking. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall, where his faith was an important part of his life. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, and friend to all he met. Spending time with his girls was precious and many memories were made even with his busy schedule.Through his health issues, he fought valiantly, often replying “one day at a time.” He loved to share jokes and his knowledge of history and trivia with anyone who would listen. He always found common ground with everyone. His love, support, smiles, laughter and quick wit will be greatly missed.Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM CST Monday, September 22nd at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshall, Illinois. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 AM CST Monday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Marshall. Attire is casual.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Union Health Foundation in memory of Dr. William A. Kuhn for new endoscopy equipment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, The Chapel of West Lafayette Indiana (Dr. William A.
