Dwight E. Tingley, 94, of Martinsville, IL passed away 9:17 AM Saturday, Nov. 12, 2017 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall.
He was retired from Local #841 after 42 years of service. Dwight was born Dec. 26, 1921 at Martinsville, IL, the son of Donald and Pearl Sweet Tingley. He married Harriet Taggert Baker on June 11, 1942 and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Larry (Hilda) Tingley of Marshall and Donald Tingley of Martinsville; a daughter, Peggy (Hugh) Vanooleghem of Dearborn, MI; ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy; a sister, Virginia Kendall and three brothers, Dale Tingley, Burdette Tingley and Roy Lee Tingley.
He had been a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and was a member of Masonic Lodge of Martinsville, Scottish Rite Valley and Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, IL. He had formerly owned Tingley Brothers Construction and had operated a trucking company.
He served this nation in the US Army during WW II; was a lifetime member of VFW Post #5975, Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and the D.A.V. Services in honor of his life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home with Bro. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday and 7:00 AM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be conducted 7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
