Eddie P. Cantrell, 72, of Marshall, IL passed away 11:20 AM Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the home of a son at Fishers, IN following an extended illness. He was the retired manager of Neal Tire and Battery of Marshall. He had previously been employed at Parker Motor Supply and had been the operator of the Western Auto Store of Marshall. He was born March 19, 1941 at Sweetwater, TN, the son of Charles and Mary Thompson Cantrell. He married Martha A. "Martie" Noyes on March 19, 1965 at Marshall, IL and she preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2009. Surviving are two sons, Derek Cantrell and his wife Amy of Fishers, IN and Brett Cantrell and his girlfriend Joey Adams of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren, Adrian Cantrell, Katie Cantrell, Ethan Cantrell and Graham Cantrell; a sister, Lillian Gaby of Cleveland, TN and two brothers, Donnie Cantrell of Madisonville, TN and Terry Cantrell of Englewood, TN. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded n death by a brother, Bernie Cantrell. He served this country in the US Navy. He served on the USS Nitro during the Cuban Missile Crisis and also served much time in the Mediterranean. He was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. Active in many civic organizations and projects, he had been a member of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce and Marshall Lions Club. Services in honor of his life will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside rites in honor of his service to this nation by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion.
