Foster M. Propst, 94, of Marshall, IL passed away 10:45 PM Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 in the Paris Community Hospital at Paris, IL.
He was a retired auto body repairman. He had been employed in several auto body establishments in East Central, IL prior to owning and operating his own facility in the Clarksville area which he opened in 1973 and operated for 15 years. He was born September 20, 1920 at Paris, IL, the son of Henry Lawrence Propst and Elizabeth H. McCormick Propst. He married Irma V. Walters on his birthday, Sept. 20, 1941 at Paris, IL and she preceded him in death on June 26, 2003.
Surviving are his children, Darrell (Karen) Propst of Terre Haute, IN, Tony (Bill) Payne of West Terre Haute, IN and Foster (Angie) Propst of Marshall, IL; five grandchildren, Timothy Propst, Neal Propst, Nathan Propst, Sarah Propst and Leslie Propst; great grandchildren, Dillon, Colby, Logan, Kaylee, Sam, Caleb, Elise, Connor and Landon; a sister, Nona Propst of Paris, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Vora, Clayton, Lawrence and Kenneth and five sisters, Zella, Orma, Audrey, Onan and Christine.
He served his nation in the US Army during WW II. He was recently awarded a specially designed quilt by the National Road Quilt Guild in honor of his service to this nation at the Veteran's Day Program at the Marshall Junior High School in Marshall.
Services in honor of his life will be 10:00 AM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Bro. Jeff Loper officiating. Burial will be in the Clarksville Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and VFW Post #5975. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksville Cemetery Association or to the Clarksville Baptist Church.
