Frederick R. Murphy, 77, of Casey, IL, formerly of Martinsville, IL and Marshall, IL, passed away 5:15 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 in Union Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. He was retired from Western Electric and Indiana State University. He was born January 28, 1936 at Marshall, IL, the son of Henry W. and Elva L. Veach Murphy. He married Dorris A. Edwards on Oct. 26, 2004 at Marshall, IL. Surviving are his wife, Dorris; a son, Eric Murphy; a daughter, Anita Murphy; two step sons, Timothy (Tammy) Parker and Tracy Parker; a step grandchild, Dalton Parker and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Howard Murphy, Jesse A. Murphy, William Murphy, Harley Murphy and Wayne Murphy and a sister, Geneva Elliott. He was a member of the Five Points Christian Church where he had been a Sunday school teacher, Sunday School Supt., church deacon and elder. He was a member of VFW Post #1769 of Effingham, IL and Martinsville Legion Post #515. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1959 to 1963. His special service included ECM Special Project ERB. Services in honor of his life will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Bro. Larry Morecraft officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time Saturday at the funeral Home.
