George Thomas Barkley, 85, of Marshall, IL passed away 9:08 AM Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 in the Paris Health Care Center at Paris. Tom was retired from Coil Sales of Marshall and had previously been employed at the TRW facility in Marshall. He had also been a professional photographer. He was born Aug. 24, 1932 at Georgetown, IL, the son of Clarence L. and Catherine I. Wyrick Barkley. He married Thelma E. Petty on Dec. 28, 1957 at Marshall and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2015. Surviving are a daughter, Tammy (David) Wilguess of Dennison, IL; two grandson, Brian and Aaron Wilguess; a sister, Janet Angle of Marshall and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert “Red” Barkley, Gene Barkley and Frank Barkley and two sisters, Kitty Higginbotham and Betty Evitt. Tom was a member of the Marshall Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed engraving and making canes as a hobby. Services in honor of his life will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastors Adam Hafenbridle and Paul Burress officiating. Burial will be in the Livingston Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
