Helen J. Wernz, 90, of Marshall, IL passed away 2:30 AM Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Marshall Rehab and Nursing in Marshall, IL. She was born on October 18, 1930 in Marshall, IL, the daughter of Harry and Mabel (Miller) Willmann. She married Harold M. Wernz on June 24, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Casey, IL. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Paris, IL; a retired Marshall school cafeteria worker, bus driver and farm wife. She found great comfort in her religion and was a faithful servant. She was a member of Clark County Homemakers, Burnsides Guild, and helped plan Velsicol retirement and 1950 Marshall High School Class reunions. She enjoyed spending time with her family, the little ones held a special place in her heart; attending band concerts, 4-H events and being involved with farm life. She is survived by two sons, Carl Wernz of Oblong and Jim (Sue) Wernz of West Union; two daughters, Jane Warner and Cartha (Richard) Gustafson of Marshall; grandchildren, Lundie Plummer, Carie (Paul) Jansen, Tiffany (Damon) Walters, Alex (Jacky) Wernz, Jessica (Shawn) Harvey, Jenny (Jacob) Gaines, Randy (Miranda) Gustafson, and Dallas (Katie) Gustafson; step-grandchildren, Chasity (Nick) Christopulos and Kim (Frank) Sikorski. She also is survivied by 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Dorothea Wernz of West Union. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, sisters and brother-in-law, Norma and Marshall Mattis, Clara and Eugene Low; brothers-in-law, Robert Wernz, Stanley Joe Wernz; sister-in-law, Lucille Wernz and son-in-law, Earl Warner . Private services will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. A public walk-through visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
