Herbert Bruce Marshall, 88, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Marshall passed away 8:04 PM Thursday, August 9, 2018 in the Gibson Family Hospice / Wabash Valley at Terre Haute, IN. Bruce was a retired car salesman having been employed at various dealerships including Fred Barth Ford of Marshall and J&K Mitchell at Casey. Previously moving to this area he was involved in various business ventures in the Carterville, IL area. He was born April 11, 1930 at Carterville, IL, the son of Ira Otto and Georgia Louise Mason Marshall. Surviving are three daughters, Kelly (Ken) Stroud of Caterville, IL, Benee Hill of Marshall and Brianna “Annie” (Mike) Taylor of Neoga, IL and grandchildren, Kristien Evans, Kassidy Evans, Ethan Evans, Ely Evans, Kenslee Hill, Klark Baugher, Ella Shuler, Marshall Shuler, Quincy Taylor, Georgia Stroud and Julia Stroud. He was preceded in death by a son, Boyce Marshall, and two sisters. Bruce served this nation in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Herrin High School and had trained Champion Field Trail Beagles. He was a true and loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan. Military graveside rites will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, Aug. 19th at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL.
