Irene G. Garner, 91, of Martinsville, IL passed away 5:00 PM Thursday, March 17, 2016 at her home.

She was born Feb. 4, 1925 at Berwyn, IL, the daughter of Christopher and Hazel Albright Paulsen. She married William Garner April 18, 1947 at West Union, IL and he preceded her in death in on Feb. 27, 1986.

Surviving are three children, Barbara (Ed) Buer of Fishers, IN; Jack (Patti) Garner of Lawrenceville, IL and Dany Garner of West Union, IL; a sister, Faith Mickey of West Plains, MO; grandchildren, Laura Murray, Kelly VanVlett, Katrina Crow, Alicia Garner, Julia Garner, Trisha Brummer, Latasha Garner and Travis Garner; 10 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruby Paulsen, Betty Rogers and Martha Garner and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Glenda Garner; four sisters, Virginia Jahnke, Gladys Sanders, Marilyn Gauger and Caroline Garner; two brothers, Charles Paulsen and Ralph Paulsen and a grandchild, William Jack Garner..

Irene was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. She served in the Army Air Corps during WW II as a nurse and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation 5-8 PM Sunday.
