James C. Anderson, 80, of Marshall, IL passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at his home.
He retired as the F&I manager at Fred Barth Lincoln Trail Ford, Mercury and Lincoln automobile dealership of Marshall. Jim was born June 19, 1934 at Martinsville, IN. Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Evelyn Lee Anderson; his stepdaughter Susan Wood Nave and her son, Jordan Nave of Marshall; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ken Bernhardt of Houston, TX and their children, Joy and John also of Houston, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Tim Lewis of Magnolia, TX; son and daughter in-in-law Michael and Janis Anderson of Pearland, TX and their son Tim Anderson and his wife Heidi also of Pearland, TX; a step son, Rex Wood and his wife Kara of St. Paris, OH and their daughter, Hannah Burgess also of Ohio; a sister, JoAnn Glidden and her husband Bill of Terre Haute, IN; a brother Dave Anderson of Martinsville, IN and a sister-in-law, Pat Anderson of Martinsville, IN. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Anderson; his mother and stepfather, Muriel and Preston Grounds and his father, Ralph Anderson.
Jim was an outstanding athlete in his high school days and excelled in basketball, track and golf. He was a member of the American Legion Golf course and enjoyed golfing throughout his life. Jim and his wife, Evelyn, were avid dancers and dancing was one of the many pleasures they shared together during their life. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall.
He served the Marshall Community for two terms as a City Councilman for his Ward from 2003 to 2011. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family. He served his nation in the U Naval Reserve and was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion.
Services in honor of his life will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 14th at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., Marshall with Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and VFW Post #5975. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
