James Hollinrake, 82, of Dennison, IL passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023 in the comfort of his home with family by his side. He was born June 27, 1941 at Blackpool, England, the son of James Hollinrake and Gladis E. Stokes Hollinrake. Jim spent his most of his life in Liverpool, England until he moved to American in 2012. He was employed by Royal Mail at the age of 15 delivering telegrams on a bicycle and later on a motor bike. After that he walked a mail delivery route for many years and later moved up in management until he became Chief Inspector Postman High Grade. He worked for the English postal system for 42 years! Jim married Marilyn Collier McDaniel in 2004 at the Cotton Exchange and in dosing so, he gained five step children who all have children of their own. Besides his wife and step-children he is survived by a daughter; Catherine Norton of Old Bedhampton who has two sons, Jack and Harry; a son, Simon Hollinrake who has one daughter, Anna Louise and her two children. Simon also has two step children. He was preceded in death by a brother, Brian and an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann. For the past few years Jim worked at the Wal-Mart in Marshall and made many new friends with both co-workers and customers. All those at Wal-Mart loved listening to his English accent when he spoke through the public address system when making announcements. He was a very active member of the Marshall Church of the Nazarene. His most treasured role at the church was the teaching of teen agers, where he taught more than Bible stories. He always asked them about current events and asked them to show him on a large map where these events took place. All their reading had to be done heeding punctuation and his final thought to them was to be kind to yourself and to each other. Jim will be sadly missed by all who knew him and will be remembered for his funny jokes and endless trivia stories and awesome personality. Memorial services will be 6:00 PM Friday, Oct. 27th at the Marshall Church of the Nazarene. Online condolences are being accepted at pearcefuneralservices.com.
