James O. Low, 88, of Marshall, IL passed away 3:15 AM Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall. He was a retired postal clerk of the United States postal service. He was born March 3, 1926 at Chrisman, IL, the son of John Oliver Low and Iva Grace Reynolds Low. He married his wife Catherine on Dec. 25, 1963 at Marshall, IL and had recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Surviving are his wife, Catherine; children, Diana Murphy Beckwith of Columbus, IN, Paul (Ruth) Murphy of Arcola, IL, Becky Low of Oakwood, IL, Robert (Barbara) Lamb of Newberry, SC, John Lamb of Marshall, IL and Sarah (Bruce) Stratman of Evansville, IN; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Garfield, Franklin and Donald. He was a member and deacon of the Marshall Baptist Church, Marshall VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. He was a true and loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and Marshall High School basketball. He served his country in the US Air Force during WW II. Services in honor of his life will be 11:00 AM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Sunday and prior services Monday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Baptist Church.
