James E. Scott, 65, of Marshall, IL passed away 8:56 PM Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall. He was retired from CSX Railroad. He also was retired from the US Naval Reserve and had served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War in the Seabees. He was born June 27, 1948 at Paris, IL, the son of William Scott and Elva Norton Scott. Surviving are two sons, James E. Scott and Jason E Scott and his companion, Sarah Darr both of Marshall; a grandson, Cameron Scott; two sisters, Joyce Knecht and her husband Glen of Decatur, IL and Jennie Mayberry and her husband, Samuel of Shakopee, MN and several cousins. He was a member of VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. He had attended the First United Methodist Church of Marshall. Services in honor of his life will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. Military rites in honor of his service will be conducted immediately following the funeral service at the funeral home.
