James Hubert Poole, 80, of Marshall, IL moved on to his eternal home on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 5:35 PM Eastern Time. He was surrounded by family and supported in love until the very end. Born on October 30, 1939 to Hubert Poole and Helen Schuur Poole, Jim’s early years were spent in rural Coalmont, Indiana where he fondly remembered his grandmother’s garden and his grandfather’s travels as a veterinarian. As a young man he enlisted in the Navy, driving for generals over his three years of service. Jim was employed for 25 years at Honey Creek Industries. He served as a supervisor to coworkers who were like a second family. Jim’s proudest memories centered around his travels, his projects and most of all his family. Even in his final days, he fondly recounted stories of trips to Yellowstone, motorcycle rides through the Blue Ridge Mountains, fishing with family, favorite drives through Native American reservations and white water rafting with his grandsons. He was a master of many hobbies and the homes of those he loved are filled with the fruits of his many talents, including the rocking horse which is now entertaining it third generation of riders. Jim’s family was the proudest part of his life and he was most certainly a shining light in ours. In every situation, we were blessed by his endless stories, his acts of service and his ever-pleasant sense of humor. May we be fortunate to have this legacy of love and laughter continue on in each of our lives.
