James R. Houchin, 79, of West Terre Haute, IN, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away 4:00 PM Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020 in Clinton Gardens at Clinton, IN. He was retired from Coil Sales & Mfg. of Marshall after 38 years of service.. Jim was born Sept. 17, 1941 at Kansas, IL, the son of Howard and Ressie Wilson Houchin. He married Clara Sue Wilson on March 27, 1970 at Oakland, IL and she preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2010. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bobby and two brothers, Alfred “Dude” Houchin and Everett “Waby” Houchin. Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda (Jeff) Harney of West Terre Haute, IN and Mendy (Jesse) Sparks of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Allison, Haley, Deedra, Jasmine, Jacob and Jetta and great grandchildren, Greyson and Brooklyn. He was a graduate of Kansas High School and was a true and loyal Atlanta Braves, Chicago Bears and Fighting Illini fan. He served this nation in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. Graveside services will be 2:30 PM Saturday at Fairview Cemetery at Kansas, IL with Pastor Tim Yocum officiating and military graveside rites accorded by VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90. A public walk through visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home.
