James R. “Jim” Thompson, 84, of Marshall, IL passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. To know Jim, was to love his smile and joking personality. He had a love for being on the golf course or enjoying a beer with his friends company. Jim served as a Marine then went on to work retail and always made sure to have a nice clean store. Jim had a strong love for his family, which he loved to comment on how big it had grown. Jim was born June 16, 1938 at Benton Harbor, MI, the son of Bud and Mary L. Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parentsmother; sister, Judy and grandson, Steven. He is survived by his wife, Janet; his brother and sisters; his children, Jeff (Sandy), Jamey (Mary-Ann), Joni (John), Juli (Brian), Jon, Judye (Ray) and Jeanne. Also surviving are his fifteen grand-kids and twenty five great-grandkids. Jim's career in the grocery business was in various communities and last retired as the manager of Great Scott in Terre Haute. He was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and truly loved golfing. Private services in honor of his life will be Saturday, Dec. 31st at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Military rites will follow the services at the funeral home. A public visitation will be 10:00 AM until 12 Noon Saturday at the funeral home.
