James T. Mattingly, 65, of Seminole, FL, formerly of Paris, IL passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 at his home. Jim, a lover of agriculture, farmed most of his entire life in Edgar County, IL. The profession of farming was one that he was most proud. He was born Oct. 17, 1951 at Paris, IL, the son of James Thomas and Frances Joan Brown Mattingly. Surviving are two daughters, Jill (Jim) Ham of Ashburn, VA and Abby (Tim) Curl of Lafayette, IN; four grandchildren, Will Ham, Nate Ham, Betsy Curl and Caroline Curl; his mother, Joan Mattingly of Paris; three sisters, Bobbi Mattingly and Nancy (Richard) James both of Paris and Beth (Dale) Chandler of Indianapolis, IN; his former wife and mother of his children, Marian Belt Mattingly; nieces and nephews, Shane Stewart, Jenelle Adams, Makensey Dunn, Ashley Peavey and David Chandler and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. Jim was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Paris. He graduated from Paris High School and received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Agriculture from Southern IL University where he was a member of the AGR Fraternity. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday, Aug. 19th in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Paris with Rev. Father Ronald Hilt as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Paris. Visitation will be one-hour prior services in the gathering space at the church on Saturday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the FFA Chapter of Paris High School. Pearce Funeral Home of Marshall is assisting the family with arrangements.
