Janice E. Norton, 57, of Mattoon, IL, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the emergency room of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center at Mattoon, IL.

She had been a resident of Palm Terrace in Mattoon for several years. Janice was born April 20, 1959 at Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of John T. and Katherine Wright Norton.

Surviving are several aunts and uncles; Joan Ostrander Lennox, Mass., Doris Vaclavek of St. Louis, MO, Mildred Pennington of Greenwood, IN, Virginia Hayhurst of Terre Haute, IN, Donald Wright of Peru, IN; several cousins, George (Colleen) Ostrander Jr. of Pittsfield, MA, Elizabeth Ann Ostrander Smith of Pittsfield, MA, Tom (Donna) Norton of Marshall, IL, Jerry (Malinda) Norton of Fairfax, VA, Jim Norton of Terre Haute, Mark (Darcy) Norton of Princeton, IN, Jane (David) Williams of Martinsville, IL, Ruth Bilbrey of Fenton, MO, Carol Biernbaum of Grover, MO, John Vaclavek of Columbus, MO, Mark (Mary Jo) Pennington of Greenwood, IN, Karen Mitchell of Indianapolis, IN, Harry Morgan of Broomfield, Co, George Morgan of Martinsville, IL, Julie Stottler of Victoria, IL and Connie Barnhart of Marshall, IL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by aunts and uncles, Dale (Violet) Norton, Ron (Susan) Norton, Fern Norton, Mary Jane Berry, Dale Wright, Charles Wright and Everett Wright and her grandparents, Glen and Edith Wright and Thomas and Elizabeth Norton.

Janice was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was a 1977 graduate of Marshall High School. She loved to play bingo and shop. Following her death, her corneas were given so others might see.

Services in honor of her life will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home with Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be beside her parents in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be one-hour prior services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
