John J. Meehling, 88, of Marshall, IL passed away 8:00 AM Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall. He was a retired farmer.

John was born March 11, 1927 in Clark Co., IL, the son of Jacob M. and Philomina Geheb Meehling. He married Dolores Bradshaw on July 24, 1954 at Marshall, IL. Surviving are his wife, Dolores; children, Elizabeth Ann Meehling of Tempe, AZ, Frederick W. (Julia) Meehling of Marshall, Amy Louise Beaven of Carmel, IN and Allan J. Meehling of Marshall; grandchildren, Matthew Allan Meehling, Amanda Marie Meehling, Adam Jacob Meehling, Christopher Patrick (Haley) Beaven and Caitlin Elizabeth Beaven; sisters, Emma (Charles) Bridgewater of Merrillville, IN, Eleanor (Damian) Macey of Marshall and Ann (Carl) Cluckey of Caseville, MI and several nieces and nephews.

John was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall. He had served on the St. Mary’s Cemetery Board, the Clark Service Board and was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. He had served his nation in the US Navy. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Tuesday and 7:00 AM until 9:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. The rosary will be recited 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
