John T. “Tommy” Shonk, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. Born October 28, 1942 in Marshall, Illinois to John Allen Shonk and Betty Lou Shonk (nee Henry). Tom was a retired Master Sergeant with the Indiana Air National Guard (28 years of service), a retired manager in asphalt paving and past President of Zion Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends, preferably outdoors, was an avid bowler and was President of the West County Tuesday Night Men’s Bowling League for many years. Survived by his wife, Sharon A. Shonk (nee King) of 55 years; dear father of Allen (Jill) Shonk, Trisha (Mitch) O’Brien, Shannon (Dave) Duncan and Erik (Charity) Shonk; loving grandfather of Taylor Hughes, Nikki Shonk, Tori Hughes, Celeste Shonk, Ella Shonk, Keenan O’Brien, Kathryn Duncan, Dustin (Amy) O’Brien, Daniel (Katie) O’Brien, Andre King and Marina King; great grandfather of Liam, Lachlan, Lily and Makenzie O’Brien; dear brother of Judy (Paul) Joab, Mike Shonk, Tim (Patty) Shonk and Cindy Pancake plus numerous extended relative and friends. Private memorial service being held at Schrader Funeral Home, 14960 Manchester Road, Ballwin, Missouri 10:00 AM Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
