John Robert Finkbiner, 95, of Marshall, IL passed away 5:45 AM Friday, April 13, 2012 in the Burnsides Community Care Center at Marshall, IL and joined his wife, Wanda M. Pendleton Finkbiner who preceded him in death on December 11, 2007 after being married on Feb. 22, 1942. He was a retired farmer. He was born Nov. 10, 1916 in Clark Co., IL, the son of John L. Finkbiner and Flora Berner Finkbiner. Surviving are a son, Steve Finkbiner of Marshall, IL; a daughter, Carol Holmes of Shelburn, IN; six grandchildren, Clint (Amanda) Holmes of Martinsville, IL, Derrick Holmes of Marshall, IL, Amy Holmes of Terre Haute, IN, Angie (Patrick) Reents of Litchfield, IL, Mike Finkbiner of Marshall, IL and Matt Finkbiner of Marshall, IL; great grandchildren, Trevor Holmes, Hailey Holmes, Carter Holmes, Wyatt Holmes, Lincoln Robert Reents and Liam Robert Reents and a brother, Fenton Finkbiner of Terre Haute, IN. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Virginia Butcher, Dorothy Finkbiner, Helen Finkbiner and Catherine Finkbiner; three brothers, Dean Finkbiner, Roy Finkbiner and Charlie Finkbiner and a great grandson, Beacan Nicholas Holmes. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Supt. for many years. He was a former member of the Clark County Farm Bureau and was active the Villa's Of Holly Brook. He served in the infantry of the US Army during WW II and was stationed in the Philippines. He was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and VFW Post #5975 of Marshall. Services in honor of his life will be 10:00 AM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Bro. John Cutshall officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
