John W. Behrndt, 88, of Marshall, IL , formerly of Michigan City and Lafayette, IN passed away Friday Nov. 20, 2020 in Twin Lakes Rehab and Health Care at Paris, IL. Prior to moving to Marshall he lived at Michigan City, IN and Lafayette, IN. He was born Sept. 16, 1932 at Michigan City, IN, the son of Henry and Verna Wright Behrndt. He married Pequita Watkins on July 8, 1960 at Monticello, IN. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Deborah (Michael) Bartnick of Marshall, IL and Melinda (Michael) Janosky of Noblesville, IN; 8 grandchildren, Lauren Bartnick, Jospeh (Jessica) Bartnick, Brendan (Savannah) Bartnick, Zachary (Madison) Bartnick, Lucas (Carter) Bartnick, Griffin Janosky, Kathryn Janosky and Samantha Behrndt, as well as six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jon Behrndt; a grandson, Gunnar Behrndt and two brothers, Harrison Behrndt and Henry Behrndt. An active member of the Episcopal Church he was also active with the Audubon Society, the Humane Society and was a master gardener. He had taught science at the Jr. High level and truly enjoyed that age group. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM CST Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall with Rev. Deborah Veach officiating.
