Joseph Daniel McGuire, 69, of Marshall, IL passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Union Hospital with family by his side. He was born October 29, 1950 in Eldorado, IL to Clarence and Wilma (Cox) McGuire. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Chad McGuire. This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Pamela (Dardeen) McGuire; sons, Ryan (Nicole)McGuire, Shaun (Melissa) McGuire; sister, Nancy (Robert) Cunningham; brothers, Philip (Iris) Dardeen, Denny Dardeen, David (Rhonda) Dardeen and Steven “Bill” Dardeen; many nieces and nephews; many friends and his grandchildren who were his whole world, Logan Griffin, Haley McGuire, Payton McGuire and Mason McGuire. As a young man, Joe farmed in Southern Illinois and years later worked for Vertiv Company as an installer. He was successful in his career, but that isn’t what mattered most to Joe. His most cherished titles in life were Dad and Grandpa. To Joe, family meant everything. He had the ability to love deeply and create joy wherever he went with his infectious laugh. He relished every moment cheering on his grandkids and their friends from the stands at the ball fields and on the sidelines of the basketball courts. Playing chauffeur to and from practices and being a hands-on grandpa was a role he gladly accepted. Joe looked forward to meeting his friends for breakfast each morning. Teasing his wife of 50 years was his favorite pastime. As family and friends grieve, find comfort knowing Joe and Chad are having the most beautiful reunion heaven has ever seen. Joe’s life was well lived and he was well loved. Family was the pivotal essence of Joe’s life. We wish to thank all of the health care professionals from Union Hospital for the great care during the last few years of his life. Joe and his family would like all to keep in mind that “Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.” – Michael J. Fox. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday at Pearce Funeral Home at Marshall, IL.
