Joseph Edward Macey, 68, of Mascoutah, IL, formerly of Marshall, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at his home. He was retired from the US Air Force after 22 years of service and later retired from the civil service at Scott Air Force Base after 17 years of service. He was born Aug. 5, 1948 at Paris, IL, the son of F. Russell and Virginia M. Harsh Macey. He married Diane Gentry on Sept. 21, 1968 at Marshall, IL. Surviving are his wife, Diane; two daughter, Kimberly Macey of Mascoutah, IL and Denise (Keith) Beeler of Greenfield, IN; a grandchild, Sophia Beeler; three sisters, Margaret Gillie of Hercules, CA, Christine Hamilton of Lovettsville, VA and Catherine Kezel of Kailua Kona, Hawaii. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jim and John Macey. He had attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marshall and was a 1966 graduate of Marshall High School. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary’s Church in Marshall with Father Augustine Koomson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors provided by Marshall VFW Post #5975 and Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St. in Marshall. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
