Karl R. Prevo, 70, of Marshall, IL passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at his home. Karl served on the Harris County, Texas Sheriff’s Dept. for nine years and was later employed by a check cashing service in Texas for many years. He was born on Dec. 5, 1954 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of James A. and Norma L. Lundstrom Prevo. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Sonja Prevo. Surviving are a sister, Greta (Sean) McKenzie of Fortville, IN; a brother, Jim Prevo of Marshall and a brother-in-law, Craig McNary of Marshall; two nephews, two nieces and several cousins. He was a graduate of Marshall High School, Danville Community College and received his Bachelor of Science degree in criminology at Western Illinois University. During his high school years he was a member of the 1972 and 1973 basketball team at Marshall High School which was one of the best teams in school history of Marshall High School coached by Carroll Bennett. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marshall. Graveside services will be11:00 AM Saturday May 3rd at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Marshall, IL Visitation will be 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. For those desiring memorial contributions in honor of his mother may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation which was a disease affecting his mother and Karl struggled with dementia.
