Kathryn “Kathy” A. Linn, 90, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully at her home with her daughter Sandra by her side, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Kathryn was born on January 14, 1936, in Normal, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Anne (Turnell) Swain. She graduated from high school in Virden, IL, and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Western University in Macomb, IL.On December 21, 1958, she married LeRoy S. Linn, Jr. “Lee” in Marshall, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2015.Kathy began her teaching career in Brimfield, Illinois. She and LeRoy moved to Geneseo in 1965 where she touched so many lives teaching kindergarten at Northside School for 30+ years.She was a member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church and served the community through several organizations including the Hammond Henry Hospital Auxiliary and Chapter DN of PEO.Both Kathy and Lee were strong supports of Geneseo High School athletics and the Fighting Illini at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She was an avid bridge player who enjoyed several bridge clubs, as well as an enthusiastic reader who participated in multiple book clubs. Known for her boundless energy, she remained strong in her faith and deeply devoted to her family throughout her life.Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Sandra Ann “Sandy” Linn (Michael Rodgers) of South Carolina; granddaughter, Ashley Ruemker of Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Daniel “Reed” Smith, Jr. and Hayden A. Kelly; siblings, Richard (Jeanie) Swain of Champaigne, IL, and Eleanor (Ken) Macke of Marshall, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anne Swain; and her loving husband, LeRoy Linn, Jr. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Vandemore Funeral Home – Geneseo Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Kingswood Church (formerly First United Methodist Church) in Geneseo, with Reverend Dr. Chris Ritter officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Marshall Cemetery in Marshall, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory. Pearce Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
