Larry Wayne Sweitzer, 69, of Marshall, IL passed away 12:45 AM Tuesday, May 7, 2024 in University Heights Health and Living Community at Indianapolis, IN. He was born January 2, 1955 to Wayne and Norma Ramsey Sweitzer in Terre Haute, Indiana. His father excavated a large lake for Doc Stoelting to pay the delivery and hospital bill and when completed, Doc owed them a few dollars. Larry and the Sweitzer family later fished in the same lake that his father had worked to pay off the expenses of his birth. Larry was a 1973 graduate of Marshall High School, maintaining several lifelong friendships. He was a member of Armstrong United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, his classic Camaros, drag racing, his German Shepherd dogs and shooting his guns. His favorite television program was the Andy Griffith show, so much so that when his son was born he insisted on the name Andy. Larry farmed for many years until his health called for retirement. Every day at lunch, Larry could be counted on to pull into his favorite Marshall eateries in his shining red pickup, where staff all knew him and made sure his food was just perfect. To say Larry was a Packer fan is an understatement, he had no problem letting Bears supporters know which team was best. Larry’s pride and joy were his son, Andy and granddaughter Jocelyn. He swore both were the smartest people he knew and had no faults. Survivors include son, Andy (Bethany) Sweitzer, granddaughter Jocelyn, brother Kent Sweitzer, sister Teresa (Travis) Speros, nephews, Christopher (Brittany) and Matthew (Shelby) Sweitzer, friend and former wife, Cathy Macke. Sincere appreciation is extended to Dr. Anne Greist, the staff of Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center and St. Vincent Hospital for years of compassion and care. Thank you to the staff of Mill Creek Restaurant, Dairy Queen, Lion’s Den and Arby’s for the genuine personal service. Services in honor of his life will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 13th at Pearce Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Livingston Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time on Monday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
