Lawrence T."Larry" Ryan Sr., 78, of Marshall passed away Saturday afternoon at Harrison Crossing in Terre Haute, IN.
He was formerly employed by Great Scott and had retired from Country Market in Terre Haute.
Larry was born Dec. 21, 1937 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of Carl Robert and Elnora May Bertrum Ryan. He married Sharon Vanoven on June 30, 1964 at Martinsville, IL. Surviving are his wife, Sharon; two daughters, Kim (Randy) Stills of Rosedale, IN and Melissa (John) Spudville of Dennison, IL; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly) Sills, Jonah Sills, Jason Sills, Kimberly (Darren) Keck, Jackie Spudville and Natasha Spudville and her boyfriend, Kris Harris and two great grandchildren, Gracie Keck and Maddax Keck; sister-in-law, Patricia Ryan, Lu Sawyer, Mary Jane Solomon and Pat Vanoven.. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence T. Ryan Jr. on June 16, 1968; a brother, Frederick J. Ryan and a sister, Carol Slusser.
Following graduation from Martinsville High School he joined the US Navy. He was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion, member and Past Master of Clark Lodge #603 AF & AM of Martinsville and the Scottish Rite Valley of Danville. Larry was a true blue loyal Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
Services in honor of his life will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Pearce Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery with military rites conducted by Clark Co. Post #90 and VFW Post #5975. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday and prior services on Wednesday. Masonic services will be conducted 7:30 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
