Leland E. Buckner, 90, of Marshall, IL passed away 4:38 PM Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020 in Marshall Rehabilitation and Nursing at Marshall, IL. He was a retired farmer. Leland was born July 3, 1930 in Dolson Twp. of Clark County, IL, the son of Eugene and Madge Nicholson Buckner. He married Betty J. Baker on April 6, 1957 at Clarksville and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2015. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother , Dean Buckner and a sister, Margaret Mattingly. Surviving are a son John L. “J.B.” Buckner and his wife, Shirley of Paris, IL; a grandson, Randy Buckner and his companion, Susan Williamson of Groves, TX; great grandchildren, Jonathan Buckner and Evelyn Buckner; step-grandchildren, Deborah Myles of Martinsville, IL, Mike Paterson of Martinsville, IL, Dena Porter and her husband, Rob of Marshall, IL, Teri Winemiller and her husband Alan of Vincennes, IN and Twila Fears and her husband Tim of Terre Haute, IN; a brother, James Buckner of Paris, IL; a sister, Zelda Curran of Marshall, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was a 1948 graduate of Marshall High School, a member of the Clark Co. Farm Bureau, a former 4-H leader and a 50 year member of Clark County Post #90 of the American Legion. Leland served this nation in the U.S. Marines. A public graveside service will be 2:45 PM Monday at Green Moss Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by Clark Co. Post #90 of the American Legion and VFW Post #5975. Due to Covid 19 the visitation and funeral service will be private.
