Leland Kenneth Grooms Sr., 78, of Jamestown, TN, formerly of Marshall, IL passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center at Cookeville, TN. He was the former President and chief operating office of Micro Metals. He was born March 11, 1945 at Cross, SC, the son of Leland Kelly and Mamie Dena Chubb Grooms. On January 14, 1964, he married Jacquetta Roszell at Newport, KY and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Leland Kenneth (Beth) Grooms Jr. and John Kelly (Tina) Grooms both of Marshall, IL; grandchildren, C.J. (Michelle) Grooms, Kassie (Trey) Carpenter, Addison Grooms, Jordan (Maddie) Grooms, Kaydie (Anthony) Johnson, Jaylee (Matt) Baird, Michael Grooms and Austin Grooms; a step granddaughter, Caroline Baird and great grandchildren, Marcus Johnson, Teague Johnson, Drake Johnson, Averie Grooms, Jaxon Grooms, Cash Carpenter, Hallie Carpenter, Kindred Wilson and Ace Baird. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cary Grooms and a brother, Charles Grooms. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Viet Nam from 1963 to 1966. Serving as a paratrooper he was a member of the prestigious Alpha Troop 2nd Squadron/17th Cavalry 101st Airborne Division Alumni Association. He was a member of Clark Co. Post #90 and VFW Post #5795 and while living in Tennessee volunteered at the Food Pantry of Fentess County, TN. Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, December 3rd at Pearce Funeral Home with military graveside rites immediately following at Marshall Cemetery.
